Our Challenge

As is the case throughout Greece, Epidavros has many stray animals. The region has no shelters to house these stray animals nor a municipal vet.

The animals are prone to a number of diseases, many of which would be preventable by vaccination. They often face starvation and dehydration as well as the risks of multiple pregnancies. Outside the tourist season, when many restaurants are closed, stray animals find it even harder to find food. This is Our Challenge.

Our Dream

We want to create a safe haven for stray animals in Epidavros. A place where there are no neglected stray animals. We want all stray cats and dogs to be looked after, provided with food and water, neutered, chipped, vaccinated and to receive veterinary care when necessary.

Our wish is for Epidavros to become a model for the care of stray animals. As well as working together for improved coordination and effectiveness, we plan to raise awareness of the issue and to increase understanding among all age groups of the need for compassion and respect for animals.

Who we are

We are a small group of volunteers with a big mission. Our misson is to care for the wellbeing of stray animals in our area. We don’t have facilities to host animals or receive government funding. But we do our best to support animals through donations, collection boxes in local businesses, and occasional events.

Our mission is tough, but we don’t give up! Every stray we help gives us strength! If you want to join our team as a volunteer, send us a message!

Who We Are

About Artamiti

Artamiti is a Greek registered, charitable organisation, set up in February 2023 by volunteers. We care for stray cats and dogs throughout the region of Epidavros. We save paws, one step at a time, colony, by colony, by neutering, feeding and rehoming. By being focused, we achieve the maximum result : to provide for a safe, healthy and controlled environment for the stray animals in the colonies we target.

About Artamiti

The name Artamiti comes from the inscription found in the temple of the Goddess Artemis, protector of animals, in the Asclepieion of Epidaurus.

About Artamiti

Artamiti receives no European Union or statutory funding and relies entirely on individuals’ donations.

About Artamiti

We are taking our first steps by trying to make the most of the modest resources available to us and of the small, but dedicated group of volunteers.
